PM Narendra Modi will attend the BRICS summit in China

1.The prime minister of India Narendra Modi will attend the 9th BRICS summit in China from 3rd to 5th September and then will visit Myanmar from 5th to 7th September.

2. This will be his first visit to Myanmar.


Trump announces US ambassador to India
 
1.President Trump has announced his intent to nominate Kenneth I Juster, as the US ambassador to India.

2.Juster is Deputy Assistant to US President for International Economic Affairs who would replace Richard Verma if nominated & confirmed by Senate.

 

Union Minister Kalraj Mishra resigns

1. Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has submitted his resignation from the cabinet

2. The resignation of Mishra, 76, from the cabinet, had been talked about last year too as the unofficial age limit for ministers is 75.Along with Mishra, Labour minister Dattatreya& Skill Development Minister Rudy has also submitted his resignation.


 

PM Modi leaves on a tour to China and Myanmar

1.PM Narendra Modi will leave for a two nation tour to China and Myanmar. Mr. Modi will reach Xiamen to attend the 9th BRICS Summit there.
2.Then, the Prime Minister will leave for Myanmar. This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first bilateral State visit to that country.

 

Ahmedabad has been awarded the title of India’s first heritage city by UNESCO

1.Ahmedabad in Gujarat formally accorded the status of India’s first World Heritage City with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).Ahmedabad was selected out of 250 cities in the race for the coveted status.

2.India is second after China in terms of a number of world heritage properties in ASPAC (Asia and Pacific) region, and overall seventh in the world.

 

Annual Conference ‘RajaswaGyanSangam’ in New Delhi

1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day annual conference jointly organized by the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the Central Board of Excise and Customs., “Rajaswa Gyan Sangam”, 2017 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.


2.The main objective of the conference is to enable a two-way communication between the policy-makers and senior officers in the field offices.

 

World’s highest sandcastle built in German city

1.The world’s highest sandcastle,16.68 meters long has been built in the German city of Duisburg.

                                                                                                             
2.A German travel operator organized the construction of the mammoth sandcastle, bringing in 3,500 tons of sand over the past three and a half weeks to the site.The new sandcastle is decorated with sand models of tourist attractions such as Athens’ Acropolis, Barcelona’s SagradaFamilia and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
 
 
Indian-origin civil servant J Y Pillay appointed Singapore’s acting president
 
1.Indian-origin veteran civil servant JY Pillay appointed Singapore’s acting President.He replaces Tony Tan Keng Yam who completed a six-year term.
 
2.According to the report, this is the first time the office has fallen vacant since the elected presidency was introduced in 1991.
