Most of the people in our generation have little or no interest in Government jobs or Sarkari Naukri. If you ask them, they will start criticizing government jobs to the T.Still you can find most of them preparing to get a government job. Why? Well, the answer is that most of us come from middle class or service class families. So we have lived a life within the limits of our parents’ salaries. The ones who hail from a business background don’t even have to think about their future because they will join their family business. But normal people like us need to have a career that can support our family, needs, wants and also provide long-term stability.Hence most of the people even today want to get a government job.The reasons for this are being discussed in this article. In this article, we are going to list the advantages of government jobs in India.

You get a good salary

If you are working in government sector, No matter on which post you work, you will be able to earn a decent salary. Most of the government jobs are well-paying. The gross salary of a government employee consists of Travel allowance, dearness allowance and many other allowances which ultimately make the overall salary a decent amount. Even a peon or driver working in government sector earns a fair amount as salary than one in private sector.

Getting salary every month on time

Don’t take this one thing for granted people!! many private companies pay their employees only when the company is making profits otherwise salaries are delayed or paid irregularly. On the other hand, if you are a government employee, your salary comes every month at the same time no matter what. This feeling of job security is what makes most people crave to get a government job. This is because when you have a home and a family, regular income is a must.Hence government jobs guarantee to make you feel the security and stability a person desires.

Little or No Expense on Accommodation

If you work in a government sector, rest assured that you have to make very little or no expense on paying rent. Most of the government employees stay in the government quarters which are located in good localities and are quite spacious. The public sector banks even give you leased accommodations means you can stay in a home of your choice and the bank will pay for it directly to the land-lord.While a private sector employee has to pay for all this from his own pockets hence it becomes very difficult for him.

Availability of a large number of Holidays

While in a private company, you can hardly get more than 6 to 7 days of leave a year and maybe you have to be on without pay leave. But it is not the case in public sector jobs.In a government job, you get a fair amount of leaves in the form of casual leaves, sick leaves, maternity leaves, etc. You can also take additional leaves because work pressure is less in Government jobs. You can easily plan vacations well in advance due to the number of leaves you are guaranteed to get.

Cheaper Accommodations available even when on Holidays

Yes, this is a big advantage of government jobs. They value their employees and encourage travel. This is the reason most of the tourist spots have government guest houses and Holiday homes located in the prime locations. The employees can book them when heading out for a vacation alone or with family. They can save a lot on hotel bills when traveling anywhere in India. They can even arrange these guest houses for a relative or a friend.

Medical Reimbursements

Health care is becoming costlier day by day.It is becoming more difficult for the middle class to afford health expenses. But if you are a government employee, you get the advantage of getting the amount spent on health care not just on yourself but also your family reimbursed easily. The central government even provides facilities in collaboration with many hospitals under the CGHS(Central Government Health Services) scheme to provide free of cost treatment and surgeries to its employees.

Post-Retirement Advantages

While a person in a private job has to keep a portion of his income every month away in order to save for life after retirement, A government job employee gets the advantage of receiving Pension every month until the day he lives. Not just this, his wife gets half the pension till her lifetime even after the person dies.So you don’t have to take any stress or bow before anyone after you retire from a government job. This is a major reason why people opt for government jobs.

You don’t have to Keep proving yourself to get Promotions

In private jobs, there is regular assessment of your work and you have to keep proving yourself constantly in order to get appraisals, promotions or salary increments. While in a government job, you will get increments and promotions at the predetermined intervals of time. You can work really hard or moderately still you will get those advantages.Nobody can take them away from you.

Work-Life Balance due to Fixed Working Hours

With the exception of a few government jobs like Police services, Armed and Navy services, Railways, etc. rest all government jobs have fixed working hours mostly.Due to less pressure of deadlines, the employees work for a fixed number of hours and after that, they get back home on time.Hence this gives them ample amount of time to spend with their family. Hence a person in a government sector can easily maintain the work-life balance. It is the most important aspect because what is the point to work day and night when you can’t even spend time with your family.
