24 Killed as a Wall of Wedding Hall Collapsed
A building wall collapsed onto guests at a wedding in Rajasthan, killing at least 24 people and injuring many others. The hundreds of guests were having dinner or assembling on the outdoor lawns when a strong dust storm blew into the area forcing people on the lawns to go indoors. When the 80-feet-long wall fell, it trapped people inside the wedding hall and a covered shed built along the wall outside. Incident occurred in Bharatpur Rajasthan.
Huge Consignment of Painkiller Tablets of India Seized in Italy
A ship load of a synthetic opioid-like drug, from India to be sold to Islamic State terrorists in Libya to give them greater resilience has been seized by the Italian police. The 37 million tramadol pills, worth $75 million, were found packed into three containers at the port of Genoa, labelled as blankets and shampoo and set to be loaded on a freighter bound to leave to Libya. It is believed that medicine was bound to be delivered to ISIS.
Supreme Court Starts Hearing in Tripple Talaq issue
Supreme Court began its hearing on a plea that the triple talaq and nikah halala violated Muslim women’s rights to equality and dignity.The Constitution bench comprising Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, Justice Kurian Joseph, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Justice S Abdul Nazeer are expected to hear the matter for seven days. The five judges belong to five different faiths, a curious first when the religion of the five judges has been highlighted in most media reports today.
