India facilitate $318m loan credit to Sri Lanka for railway development
Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Finance has signed an agreement to receive $318m loan credit from the Government of India for rail development works.
New credit line will be used to implement various developments which has prioritized the improvement of passenger transportation facilities in order to attract more passengers to use rail services in Sri Lanka.
Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy of Fiscal has been announced by RBI
Reserve Bank of India in its Bi-monthly Monetary Policy kept its repo rate unchanged at 6.25 percent and reverse repo rate unchanged at 6.0 percent respectively.
Monetary policy committee (MPC), which is headed by RBI governor kept the rates unchanged amid most analysts expectation of maintaining a status quo on the policy rate, which stands at 6.25 per cent.
However, the central bank lowered economic growth projection to 7.3 percent from 7.4 percent for this FY
Malaysia will help Indian Railways for redevelopment of 20 stations
Indian Railways is firming up plans to join hands with Malaysia to redevelop about 20 stations in Tier-II cities across the country. Aimed at attracting nearly Rs.1 lakh crore private investment, the station redevelopment project attracts infrastructure revamp at platforms and circulating areas. While cities like Delhi and Mumbai are in Tier-I category, cities such as Faridabad, Cuttack, Amritsar, Jamshedpur, Kochi and Jammu are considered Tier-II cities.
India ranked poor in 4G Internet Speed
India ranked 74th, came below the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka and just ahead of Costa Rica in terms of speed. Ranking has been given to 75 countries.
Average download speed 4G and high-speed broadband in India at 5.1Mbps is less than one third of the global average 4G download speed which is 16.2 Mbps. 4G speed in India is only marginally higher than the global 3G speed of 4.4 Mbps.
Singapore scored the highest in 4G speed while South Korea scored highest in 4G availability.
Union Government planning to replace UGC, AICTE with one higher education regulator
Union government of India is all set to scrap the University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education and replace them with one higher education regulator.
Existing rules will be amended considered as an interim reform measure till new regulator will start functioning.
